David R. Tawil

David R. Tawil is Counsel in the firm's family law department, and practices in both New Jersey and New York.  David has extensive experience in handling complex divorce proceedings, including business valuations, custody disputes, high income alimony and child support proceedings and equitable distribution of assets, including distribution of multi-faceted assets and deferred compensation. As an experienced trial attorney, David has spent his entire career concentrating in the field of matrimonial law. 

 Prior to joining Budd Larner in August 2012, David was a partner at a matrimonial law firm in Morristown, New Jersey, where he had practiced for nine years.  He has appeared before the Family Part in virtually every county in the State of New Jersey.  David is also a 2002 graduate of Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City and maintains his contact with New York with ongoing appearances in various courts handling disputed matters.

David has been selected as a Rising Star by the New Jersey SuperLawyers Magazine annually since 2009, and has lectured on various topics relating to divorce and matrimonial law including equitable distribution, spousal and child support, custody and parenting time and domestic violence. He is the co-author of both the 14th and 15th editions of the Domestic Violence Chapter of the New Jersey Family Law Practice Treatise.  He has appeared on various radio programs to discuss all aspects of matrimonial and family law, domestic violence, custody and equitable distribution issues, and is the co-host of The Law Matters.  David also volunteers as a panelist for the Morris and Essex County Early Settlement Panel programs.
