Insurance Defense and Coverage

Budd Larner’s insurance defense and coverage practices cover matters that range across the entire spectrum of insurance law, from defense of personal injury accidents and premises liability to issues concerning insurance coverage disputes and bad faith claims. Our insurance defense practice includes both trial and appellate work in both state and federal courts.

The firm has a national reputation in its insurance coverage practice, serving as counsel for major insurance companies on a national and regional basis. We represent insurers in a wide variety of insurance coverage areas including environmental, toxic torts, products liability, directors and officers, professional malpractice, employment law, sexual harassment, antitrust, intellectual property, professional malpractice and a host of other substantive areas of the law. The firm also represents insureds in the defense of such matters.

The firm’s insurance defense practice group works closely with the firm’s employment law group in defending suits alleging wrongful termination, sexual harassment, and other employment-related claims.

In products liability matters, the firm represents a varied group of business entities, ranging from major manufacturers to individual entrepreneurs. The firm also handles toxic-tort suits related to exposure from chemicals, asbestos, silica, aluminum, hazardous waste, underground storage tanks, and air and water pollution.

In the environmental area, the firm represents insurance companies in all aspects of litigation and administrative proceedings involving state and federal statutes and regulations, including CERCLA, ISRA, the Underground Storage Tank Act, Spill Compensation and Control Act, federal and state Wetlands Acts.
